Kirishitan キリシタン Tsuba 鍔
Japanese Kirishitan キリシタン Christian symbolism Maru Gata openwork labour Tsuba 鍔 Katana かたな Koshirae
Mumei 無名Traditional forge hand work
Forged iron 鍛造鉄
The openwork has a pattern that is repeated in some of the rare Christian Tsuba from the beginning of the 19th century.
Estimated age: Unknown 知られざる時代
Tsuba bought about forty years ago in Japan, I can confirm its origin, but I have no other information.
Measures: 8,8 x 8,7 x 0,3 cm. (approx.)
Perfect condition, like unused and covered with a slightly rough ferrous patina.
This Tsuba had a typical Japanese collector's box made of Honoki wood. But the lid and the inner lining have been lost. As you can see in the photos.

Ref.: Tsuba 403
